Thanks everyone for their inputs. I still think we can learn a few things from .Net design - not everything Microsoft produces is junk :)

That said, has anyone on this list ever tried PerlNet (http://aspn.activestate.com/ASPN/docs/PerlDevKit) from ActiveState? Good/Bad ?
