Probably never, for backward compatibility reasons.

It is still advisable to treat the "ic_" prefix the with the same care
as you do with "mv_" when creating your own variables  (i.e. don't use
it at all unless you know what you're doing), as Interchange might
suddenly start using the "ic_" and "IC_" prefixes in new variables in
the future.
