[ic] Refreshing site variables for the current session

I have my variables table stored in MySQL.  I have a custom page that
let's the Administrator change them.  It seems as if I have to restart
IC to "refresh" the site variables.  I was wondering if there was a way
to have the current session "refresh" them without restarting IC?
