Still not working. I'm sure it's file specific though can't see why.

I added a "variables" folder with the variable files including COMMON_MENU,
__PAGE_INIT__ file/s containing the necessary ITL and HTML code, added the
.topmenu, .submenu and necessary CSS selectors to the theme.css. Added this
code in my template where I want the drop-down menu to appear:

[set top_menu][/set]
[if !scratch menu_bar]
[set menu_bar]catalog/top[/set]
[/if]

[output name=top_menu]
__COMMON_MENU__

The javascript comes in from somewhere, though I seemed to have forgotten
