Mat,

I store my discount level in a global variable so I only need to change it in
one place...but yes, I agree, I'm not sure why this doesn't work. The customer
should see the discount before they order the item. For my simple discounting
mechanism, this workaround is fine, but for more complex discounting, it
wouldn't work that well.
