[ic] How to debug a component? Suggestions please!

Could someone offer some help on how to debug a component. I'm pretty 
new to interchange. I was able to use ::logDebug to debug AuthorizeNet 
but components do not seem to behave the same way. I've search the 
forums with not much help.
