One last question about this...

Ok.. all the fields I have added.... how do I get to to appear on the
product pages... I have looked around.. and I am not quite sure of what

Thanks a mil for all the advice..

Click on the metadata icon which appears to the right of the field (on the
item edit screen), and choose 'select box' for widget type. Then specify
either a fix set of options on the box provided for that, in value=Label
format, or if the options are to come from a database field, click the
'Database' (?) tab and set those parameters. There are plenty of examples
of select box widgets in the existing setup so I don't think this will be
too challenging.
