Thanks, that did the trick. It took me a minute to figure out that it is TAB 
delimited rather than comma or space, but once I put:
extended [TAB] default [CR]
Then restarted Interchange (I assumed that was necessary right to rebuild 
it?).
Then ran the Merge. All is well.
