I also had this idea, but implemented more primitively using wget, and for a slightly different purpose. When I experimented with StaticPage a while back, I found that a lot of pages were generated, the names of which corresponded to the md5 sum of the page in question. Unfortunately, every access to, say, a flypage for sku "abc-123", refreshed the file with the md5 name instead of simply delivering the contents of it. But then, I probably overlooked something again...
