[ic] Gift Certificates

I know this has been hashed out in the group several times, but I
thought I would ask again, after about and hour of hunting the archive
for an answer I have come up empty handed. A lot of people in the
archive gave general suggestion on possible ways to code it, but nothing
concrete.

So, does anyone have any information about Gift Certificate handling? In
the item editor there is the option to set an item to behave as a gift
certificate, but from what I can tell the gift certificate option only
has an effect on the way the price is calculated for that item in the
shopping cart. So here are my questions:

1.) Does the current release of interchange have the capability to
populate the gift_cert table and issue an e-mail with the certificate
info?

2.) Does the current release of IC then have the capability to
redeem/accept gift certificates as payment?

3.) If the two features above are not available, does anyone have some
code that they have written that they would be willing to share with
myself and the group?

4.) If gift certificate handling is not part of this release, does
anyone know when we could expect it to be part of the core product?
