[ic] filter tag

Hi all,

I need to truncate a description so tried the filter tag.  Is the [filter
100.] working?    
The . does not seem to work on my IC4.8.6, RH7.3 machine although [filter
100] works fine.
Something I'm doing wrong?  I've tried [filter 100. interpolate=1] and still
don't work :(
