[ic] Link In Item Description

Hello,

 I'm running ic 4.9.5 and I'm trying to have a link
for a page from the item description. I have trird the
tags [area page], [area href=page], [page
href=dir/page], and it does not parse as a link rather
as text. The only thing that will work is if I use it
like this.
<a href="page.html">link</a>. 

Any help on this will be appreciated.
