[ic] getting [item-discount] when using [discount ALL_ITEMS]

Good Day All,

I find that when using [discount ALL_ITEMS], then this:
   [if discount [item-code]][item-discount][/if]
doesn't seem to work.  Is there a way to do that?  What
I would like the most is to be able to show the total
discount that has been supplied (if there is one) for the 
whole cart.  Is there a way to do that?  I thought maybe
just [if discount], but I wasn't getting anything with that..
