Well, it's fixed, it's gonna cost me, but it's fixed so far and I can now get into the store and the admin. I got my sysadmin to walk through this with me. And it's not a permissions problem, it's a bug that someone might want to look at. Here's the scoop, in the part where you have to manually compile vlink as shown in the docs for FreeBSD basically, config.h has this line #define LINK_FILE "suppressed@~/etc/socket" when running vlink's configure, it should replace the INSTALLARCHLIB string with my /usr/local/interchange directory. It doesn't. And so, from what I understand, two parts of the program were looking in two different places for the socket, when they should be looking in the same place. Hence the generic server was unavailable message. I would have never, and I do mean never, found this myself and I'm really amazed that he found it, but he did. (John, you da man.) Once we manually replaced the string, re-running bin/makecart got everything going just fine. Thanks for everyone's help so far and I hope someone else finds this useful if they run into the same problem. __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo!
