I've been conversing some with Peter Masiar, the kind keeper of
the current CGI::App wiki. I am interested in giving the wiki
a facelift with a nicer design, and ultimately making it more pleasant
to use as visitors and contributors.
Peter expressed that he has no interest in working with Twiki anymore,
but would be willing us to help us move the content to another server.
Further, he suggested that we try TRAC, which integrates a source
control system with a web-based interface to it, along with a bug
tracking system and wiki. I keep hearing goods about TRAC, and know that
it can integrate with svn as well as darcs. (but maybe not both at the
same time...). However, I haven't seen it used as a public wiki, which I
think is the primary service we are in need of upgrading.
Personally I have had good experiences with MoinMoin (in python) and
MediaWiki (in PHP). So far I've found Kwiki (in Perl) generally
under-featured for my tastes, but haven't used it extensively.
Shawn Sorichetti mentioned on IRC he has a CGI::App based wiki in early
development.
Do others share my interest in moving to another wiki to upgrade the
experience? Among those subset of you, are their volunteers for hosting
and managing it? As a group, our choice will be heavily influenced by
the options that would-be volunteer administrators present as ones they
are willing to admin.
