That is my thought as well. There just isn't enough to
CGI::Application on its own to write a book about. However, what I
think may be very useful is a Cookbook style book on web development
in perl. CGI::Application could take a central role in that since it
is so simple, and can easily stay out of your way while writing about
Form Validation and Database Access.
Here are a few sections that would be useful:
- MVC frameworks
- Templating
- Form validation
- Database access
- URL management
- Authen/Authz
- Debugging/Logging
- Testing
- High Availability/Clustering
- Packaging/Deploying
This could be a best practices guide in a cookbook format. CGIApp
could easily be used in the examples throughout the book. But the
techniques would be easy to use in other frameworks as well.
Cheers,
Cees
