And just to add to the Class::DBI discussion a bit, there has been a fair amount of discussion on the Class::DBI email list of the behavior of Class::DBI (and more specifically Ima::DBI) under mod_perl. I haven't been following the discussion closely at all, but I would have to say it is a concern requiring some thought for those using mod_perl.
