That is good news.

It may mean that you can only release your module under the GPL, and
it may mean that anyone that uses your module and wants to distribute
their code will also be required to license their code under the GPL
(remember, the GPL only comes into play when you distribute -- you
can use and modify it to your hearts content, but as soon as you
distribute, you have to follow the GPL).
If it was licensed under the LGPL, then I think you can safely use the
module, and it will not affect the licensing of your own code.
Most perl modules that release under the GPL will dual license under
the perl license as well which makes life much easier for everyone.
I am also not very experienced when it comes to licensing details, so
please double check what I have written here before accepting it as
gospel. I just release my perl modules under the same terms as perl
itself to simplify these issues. If I was to write a GTK or KDE gui
app, I would probably be more likely to use the GPL in that case.
I want to repeat Sam's statement. Lets not get in a religious war
over licenses, cause there are better places for that. But I think a
discussion on how licensing affects perl modules might be useful to a
lot of programmers.
Cheers,
Cees
