Which CPAN modules did you compare it to? Class::DBI? It should just be 
as simple as

My::Foo->has_many( bars => 'My::Bar' );

and then something like

$foo->add_to_bars($bar);
 -or-
my @bars = $foo->bars();

Or did I miss what you were getting at?
