Hi,
I started this application more than half a year ago but then
for various reasons I have not finished it and have not launched
the site. Now I felt more energy again to do it so it is approaching
quickly. Before really opening the doors I'd like to ask the help of
you.
CPAN::Forum is a web forum to discuss CPAN modules. One of the
objectives is to let people easily monitor discussions on several
modules of their interest without subscribing to many mailing lists.
It will also help lots of module authors for modules that do not
have a mailing list (about 95% of all the modules on CPAN) to
provide support.
I am writing the application (packaged an uploaded to CPAN as well)
and will provide the service on my server.
Before launching the service to the general public I'd like
to ask your help in making sure (as much as possible) I have not
left some huge door open for breaking the system. I'd also appreciate
help in making it nicer.
It is written using CGI::Application an while originally I did
not use Plugins (they were not available back then) in the last
few days I started to use them.
Anyway. The module is on its way to CPAN.
The service was setup to be on http://www.cpanforum.com/
(not yet available) with a test site at
http://test.cpanforum.com/
The Subversion repository of it is at
http://svn.pti.co.il/svn/cpan-forum/trunk/
(I think it will need the 'anonymous' username with empty password
if you want to check it out)
I'd really appreciate your comments, questions and patches !
One of the things I did not do (bad Gabor !) I have barely written
any tests. So if someone feels like writing test, I'd really appreciate
that too.
Gabor
