Hello,
I know of lot of people here are using CGI::App to write BREAD database
applications, so I think this will be interesting to you. (That's BREAAD
as in Browse-Read-Edit-Add-Delete).
A new project, "Maypole" [1][2] has formed, with a focus on creating BREAD
applications using the MVC pattern:
1.http://maypole.simon-cozens.org
2.http://search.cpan.org/dist/Maypole/
Currently it has a mod_perl interface through "Apache::MVC", but I
think a CGI::App front-end could be written easily as well.
It uses Class::DBI for a DB abstraction layer and Template-Toolkit
for the template system. However, it looks the templating is abstracted
so that an alternative such as HTML::Template could be used.
I haven't tried it yet myself, but I'm intrigued. I would probably
want to add in support for Data::FormValidator and ValidateRM, but that
all seems quite possible.
I thought for a while about making my own "BREADMaker", but this seems
good enough that I may use it as a starting point instead.
I've added a mention of it to the Wiki:
http://cgi-app.org/OtherFrameworks
...which reminds me, I also registered a new domain, which currently
points there. :)
