Ah ha!
A few days ago, I followed the link that is at the bottom of every mail on
this list, to search the archives. I thought maybe it was really behind,
as I couldn't find anything after July. Now I see why.
Could the list maintainer add a link to the new archive as well? I think
that would be very helpful.
BTW, I used to run mailing lists using EZMLM as well; Qmail and EZMLM are
incredible.
One final note: It seems that most of the time when I reply to the list,
the default Reply-To is for the author of the message, not the list. Is
this by design? I ask because I'm used to having reply-to send you back to
the list so you don't accidentally just mail the author of the message (as
I almost did with this message).

I think Brett gave a good reply to this question. In addition, there is a
relatively new package called StateMachine::Gestinanna which may address
this transition that you are talking about. I have not yet looked into it
