[cgiapp] Elementary rm question

I've been using CGI::Application a while now but this is 
the first time this has come up...

How do I set a runmode from the instance script. IE there
are several 'entry' points to my application and I want to
be able to use my instance script to determine which one
the app. starts with. 

Assuming this can be done, what happens to the call to 
start_mode()? Can this be left out?
