Re: [cgiapp] Shared class attributes under mod_perl

Hi,

I hope at some point I can do that. I am not sure I will get the boss's
permission to do something that official.
Right now we are running along with no problems. I did find that I had not
been using connect_on_init in my start.pl re Apache::DBI stuff.
I don't really understand why I end up with one connection *total* without
that line. But when I use it I get the expected one connection per Apache
server process.

I can say that we have a website that does many gigs of traffic every day,
running on CGI (I want to switch to mod_perl but can't yet) The forms all
use a CGI::Application module and we have several instance scripts including
one that sets the charset for some Japaneese templates.

We also have a customer service system that uses mysql replication to get
orders from the website's db server, that is also based on CGI::Application,
HTML::Template and mod_perl. That is a whole ton of code and modules, all
made managable thanks to some OOP and thanks to CGI::App and HTML::Template.
And we have yet another CGI::App module that deals with Call Center data entry.

While I still have lots to learn about how to take advantage of these tools,
we have been able to gain a great deal in building a pretty large system
with them.

Thanks,

Eric
