I wasn't aware that the list is open to post for everyone. It's quite 
common that mailing lists of any kind, especially those about software, do 
allow posting only for subscribed users. I'd rather say it's unusual to 
allow posting for non-subscribed users. I've been whitelisting all mail 
from lists.sourceforge.net since long and I don't get any spam on these 
other lists. And they are not dead either.
