My two cents: the list is valuable even if we get a couple of spam messages per week (probably less, I haven't checked). I just delete them (10 secs at most of time spent). I wouldn't bother too much...

Yeap, SF is scanning, that's probably the reason why there isn't more
spam :-(

It doesn't seem we can do much about it and as far as I can see I get
about the same amount of spam on other lists.

The two actual measures that would kill spam would (in my eyes) also
kill the list: turn it into a moderated list, only allow posts from
registered senders.
