You can do something like (from my own bb_event_generator.cfg)

brugerdb.Appl   down=yellow repeat=5 mail=/home/bigsis/bin/kill_bimport:nba upmail=true:nba

What is before the : in the mail= is executed as a script with whats
after the : as a parameter and the event as input

The usual mail=nba actually impliess mail=/usr/lib/sendmail:nba
