Everyone, I was posting in here because honestly I feel like either I'm just not getting it or the documentation is pretty much isolated to pretty much the Docu project which is very helpful, except for the alarming information. So, here's what I'm asking, can someone help to clarify how to set up alarming/pager rules for me? I've read and re-read the documentation online and I'm still just not getting it. BigSister is working great for me, and I've had no trouble getting all of the host based tests configured as I need them (both through the uxmon-net/asroot and the actual agent on the systems themselves). The only part that I'm hung up on is just specifically how the paging system works. Questions that come to mind for me right now are: What is the difference between an alarm rule and a pager rule? Are pager rules required or do they just help to limit the scope of alarms? Is it possible to only use pager rules or to only use alarm rules? Are both required or just one? Can anyone show me a copy (edited of course to not show me your system information) of their alarm rules? Or at least help me to understand the rule system a bit better for alarming? I thank everyone for any input, and I apologize if the first paragraph has come across as insulting. I really love the project, but I'm just completely lost on this last segment that I need to get everything in order. Thank you!
