In theory, this is a perfectly valid configuration. Could you please
run the agent in debugging mode (uxmon -D 5) until it crashes next
and mail me the output (well, the last few lines ought to be enough).
I'm not sure, however, if the reason for the crash will be apparent.
I suspect uxmon getting some unexpected signal - but from which source?

Again, this shouldn't break things. I wonder, however, if uxmon might
decide to give up if a connection is reset during status transmission.

Is the ssh tunnel persistent or does it also need re-initiating from 
time to time?
