Here's the uxmon-net from one of my windows boxes (this one is from my bigsis box, running 1.0.2pre). I'm also using the 1.0.2 msi agent on my other boxes. Those uxmon-net files are very similar to this file, except for pointing to the proper bsdisplay. Is your DESCR line correct for the localhost? Is the agent load on the box you are attempting to monitor? # Agent Configuration File # The Big Sister Server expects communication # every 10 minutes or server is considered down #----------------------------------------------------- # Set the default SNMP community to "public", the # # Set default frequency to 5 minutes for "ALL" checks # KEYWORD Default settings Apply To TEST #------------- --------------------------- ----------------- DEFAULT community=public frequency=5 perf=5 ALL DEFAULT version=1 proto=udp rpc DEFAULT proto=icmp ping # Information about defined systems to monitor using DESCR command. # # KEYWORD SYSTEM FEATURES Apply To HOST #--------- -------------------------- ------------ # DESCR features=unix, linux localhost # DESCR features=unix, sysv, solaris someotherhost DESCR features=windows localhost # Run the following tests. # Note: host1(host2) is reported under host2 # Note: host can be an IP address # Report Host Health Test List #------------ ----------------------------------- localhost network localhost warn=5% disk localhost eventlog localhost load localhost memory #localhost service="Big Sister Agent" service #localhost service=Spooler service localhost service=SQLSERVERAGENT service # EDIT THIS, replace localhost by the name or IP address of your Big Sister server # # BigSis Server bsdisplay /options #------------ ----------------------------------- localhost bsdisplay # include file for specific hosts, do not name it uxmon-net.* as a new # process is started for every file matching that pattern include include_checks.$HOST -----Original Message----- From: suppressed [mailto:suppressed On Behalf Of Ryan Stille Sent: Thursday, January 04, 2007 7:32 PM To: suppressed Subject: Re: [Bigsister-general] Monitoring windows servers - helpwith uxmon-net I've wasted hours of my time trying to get the syntax right in uxmon-net to monitor my windows drive. No one has done this and could offer any insight? I've even been pouring through the perl source code trying to figure it out. I would have given up and moved on but this is the third monitoring package I've tried - so far they've all been difficult to get setup and running. I've gotten a little further than the "no file systems monitored" message I had before. With this config line: localhost fs="Local Disk"(5%-15%),D:(2%-4%) frequency=1 diskfree I get: disk UNKNOWN: Local Disk (no data available) disk UNKNOWN: D: (no data available) disk UNKNOWN: 0 (no data available) ...on the monitoring page. I think its trying to match some string I don't have right. Thats why I was trying the volume name "Local Disk", as well as just a drive letter. I think I've had more luck using diskfree than disk. diskperf is on, and I've rebooted the server. I started going down the route of using SNMP, as some have suggested. I ran snmpwalk against the server, and as I thought, there's no agent running there. I don't want to have to find, download, install, secure and configure an snmp agent on all our servers. So that option is out. Thanks for any help. -Ryan [snip] ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Take Surveys. Earn Cash.
