I'd like to monitor the availability of the 'rsh' server on a Solaris machine using Big Sister. Unfortunately the method I chose doesn't work on Solaris: item=rsh service=rsh port=514 timeout=5 tcp On Solaris, the daemon checks the port of the client computer. If it's not in the 'rsh' range (0-1023) it closes the connection. This causes Big Sister to report the connection down. Does anyone have another method of checking that 'rshd' is up on a machine? BTW - I can't just check the process because 'in.rshd' is only started when there's an incoming connection. Thx. ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.Net email is sponsored by xPML, a groundbreaking scripting language that extends applications into web and mobile media.
