I've understood the approach (splitting the uxmon file to keep processes in parallel) and I see it must be a good one since both of you use it.

do not forget the DESCR entry for each system in the file where the
system is mentioned.
(that one cost me some time)

p.s.
This one is may be a bit farfetched...
Question, are those 20 machines behind a linux router ?
(ie a linux box that does ip-nat and maybe doubles as a firewall)
in that case check the logs of that box for ip_conntrack table full
entrys, because that means packets are being dropped by that box,those
caused some purples with me to.
