Re: [Bigsister-general] Performance problem

Hi there,

I've had the same kinda problems with bs 1.02 and I did the following to
fix them.

I asume you finetuned your box, ie no deamons runnning that you don't
need, no heavy X apps (or better yet no X).

split your uxmon and uxmon-asroot files up this causes bigsister to
spread out the tests and so lessen the load a bit.

ie create multiple uxmon and uxmon-asroot files
uxmon
uxmon.1
uxmon.2
uxmon.3
uxmon-asroot
uxmon-asroot.1
uxmon-asroot.2
uxmon-asroot.3
etc etc

make sure the tests are spread out evenly over these files
I use a script that generates these files for me, since I got over 400
sites to check and do not wish to keep these things up to date by
hand.(I now have 76 uxmon-asroot files)
I use no more than 28 ping tests per file.
do not forget the DESCR entry for each system in the file where the
system is mentioned.
(that one cost me some time)

Hope that helps
Rob

p.s.
This one is may be a bit farfetched...
Question, are those 20 machines behind a linux router ?
(ie a linux box that does ip-nat and maybe doubles as a firewall)
in that case check the logs of that box for ip_conntrack table full
entrys, because that means packets are being dropped by that box, those
caused some purples with me to.
