Ok, I give it a try: The original 'smtpmail' script works for me as follows: # BS_EV_mailhost=servername; export BS_EV_mailhost # smtpmail suppressed some test [^D^D] (if INPUTFILE is not set, smtpmail reads from STDIN). HOWEVER, smtpmail uses the hard-coded sender "bigsister" which is a real bad idea since many MTAs will not accept unqualified/unresolvable senders. Have a look into your maillog ...
