Yes and no :-) If you put something like Disk (.*) failing fatally red 100000000 Disk $1 crashed Disk (.*) repaired clear 0 Disk $1 crashed into etc/syslog, then uxmon will start reporting red as soon as it sees the pattern "Disk ... failing fatally" appear in syslog and keep it red for a very long time. As soon as you have replaced the disk you can post a message to syslog via i.e. logger "Disk ... repaired" uxmon will see this message and remove the red "Disk ... crashed" message. There is one danger: if the syslog monitor is restarting it will forget all the old messages and re-parse the most recent entries in the log, thus the last 1h or 4MB by default.
