Ok, are you willing to try a patch?

If you download

http://cvs.sourceforge.net/viewcvs.py/*checkout*/bigsister/bigsister/bsmonitor/Statusmon/bs_evgen.pm?rev=1.31

and replace the existing ...bin/Statusmon/bs_evgen.pm with it, and
replace ...bin/Statusmon/grouping.pm with

http://cvs.sourceforge.net/viewcvs.py/*checkout*/bigsister/bigsister/bsmonitor/Statusmon/grouping.pm?rev=1.17

as well (re-start the Big Sister server after that), the number of
alerts per minute Big Sister will send can be limitted.

Add a line like

  *.* maxpermin=40

to bb_event_generator.cfg, and Big Sister will silently drop alert
messages (but not the alarms themselves) exceeding the 40/min limit.

BTW: The default limit is set to 20/min, so you need not change
bb_event_generator.cfg at all if this is ok for you.

Best regards,
Tom
