[Bigsister-general] bigsister performance

Hi everyone,

What are the tricks to improve bigsister performance?

I've got quite some clients which I check with a ping test.
But for some reason my wan provider decides to screw up his network for
small periods of time, and as a result I get loads of errors in the
connection ping tests.

Because bigsister wants to report all these tests she starts working so
hard that she consumes all the resources on the server grinding it down
to a halt.
Only a cold boot of the system can save her.
There is no more response at the console when bigsister gets loads of
errors.

This is starting to happen almost daily, I'm getting pretty tired of
booting a linux server at M$ intervals.

I need a sollution for this problem.
