[Bigsister-general] RE: [Bigsister-devel] comments on ntptrace and bigsister start

Debian 3.0 ("Woody") had the old ntptrace.
3.1 ("Sarge") has upgraded ntp, and now has the incompatible ntptrace.

The old ntptrace from Woody works fine (well, at least well enough for
BigSister) on Sarge.
My workaround is to copy the old ntptrace to /usr/local/bin and reorder
BigSisters PATH in /etc/bigsister/resources so it uses the old ntptrace.

I'll cc: This to the general list, as this is probably of general interest.

That depends on your Linux distribution. It is a perl script for my Mandrake
10.1 desktop (ntp-4.2.0-10mdk), but a binary that supports -r and -t for
RedHat EL 3 (ntp-4.1.2-4.EL3.1).

I guess that it went into perl when ntp-4.2 entered the scene. Which means
that it may also happen for other OSes.
