There's a ten-part series of posts on how to extend BS to do this. *shuffle* http://dannyman.toldme.com/scratch/bs-devel.txt However, I found it easiest just to write my own Big Sister agent, which I call lilsis. It's a TCP connection to 1984, then http://bigsister.graeff.com/pdoc/PROTOCOL.html ... Also, I liked Orca's graphs better, so I wrote a shell script to pull the perf data out of var/status.log and put that where Orca could find it. So, Big Sister just stands in the middle, shows me pretty little green and yellow lights, and makes my pelvis buzz when something goes awry. The agent I wrote is a Perl script that runs as a daemon on a FreeBSD system, collecting system data via shell commands and passing perf and alert data to Big Sister. If anyone who finds themselves reading this thinks they'd want to deploy or adapt this script, they are welcome to contact me.
