That is no option for us. Also, with the original SUN-supplied perl 
(5.6.1) it works! So it is no  problem of version, but of distribution. 
Indeed. As nobody else here seems to use Blastwave-packages, I think, I 
have to take a closer look to the differences in the modules and maybe 
contact the maintainer at blastwave ...
