I've uncommented the trap line in bb_event_generator.cfg and changed the

There have been a number of alarms that have caused email alerts to be
produced, but no traps, as far as I can determine.

Maybe a silly question: Have you installed the required SNMP library:

 http://www.switch.ch/misc/leinen/snmp/perl/index.html

Isn't that the same library that BigSister uses to perform SNMP checks?
They work just fine.

Anyway, an update: I added a couple of extra log messages to snmp.pm to see what was going on. It passes the check for SNMP support available, and reaches the actual call to send a trap. The system that is supposed to receive the traps is on the other side of a firewall, which is supposed to let them through. My next step is to get the firewall admin to check the logs to see if they show up at all, and whether the firewall actually lets them pass.

Thanks,

Peter

Best regards,
Tom
