RE: [Bigsister-general] Problem with Remote host

Hi there --

I ran the make install-agent command, but not the make install-modules.
Following your suggestion, I ran the testers command and the results were
as follows:

Device Types:
	computer

Feature names:
	aix
	local
	netware
	remote
	solaris
	sysv
	unix

Tests:
	disk
	memory
	snmpvar
	users

What I noticed was the absense of hpux under the feature names heading. That
might explain why nothing is showing up on the bg display. What I could do is
rerun the configure, make install-agent, and make install-module again and see
what that does.

This isnt quite right...
You can have the remote machine listed in both the display server
configuration and the remotely monitored server configuration aswell,
and in many cases this can be desirable.
For example, on the bs display server it is usefull to have connection
tests (ping), and it may be preferable to do tests that check the remote
functionality of the monitored system. And on then use local monitoring
of things like load, mail queues and disk space etc., on the actual
remote system,.
The remote uxmon process(es) will send data to the display server, as
well as the local uxmon process(es), this will generate status pages for
all the tests

I dont have access to any HP-UX systems to check, but the checks may
just be failing to start due to the modules not being available
Did you also run make install-modules on the remote machine ? Not all
monitoring modules are available with just a make install-agent

To see if the tests you are using are actually available on the systems
your running the agent, run the testers command, it will give you a list
of tests that are available to you
