Looks like I have a little more info...
It apears that as soon as I log off the administrator account
and log in as an unprivileged user, that's when the lights go
purple....

Anyone have any idea why this may happen?

No. Restart it. It's possibly dead for whatever reason. You can debug with "uxmon -D 5" (5 = verbosity level). Your bsdisplay server doesn't get any info from the agent and it's most likely not because there's no bandwidth left.
