RE: [Bigsister-general] ping test

I were continue investigating and I found the following:
I delete in my remote uxmon-net the ping test and added in my server's uxmon-net.
It function properly if I put few ping tests in my uxmon-net file.
If I also put few in another file called uxmon-net.ping, the uxmon corresponding with uxmon-net.ping is showed as started OK and also you can see it with the ps command, but no ping tests (specified in this file) are done. The other thing I found is that the ping tests (those that were written in my uxmon-net file) are made each 5 minutes and not each 3 minutes as I specify with the frequency parameter.

Sorry. I forget to tell you that the uxmon-net in my remote machine also have a ping test.

Ok, this won't ever work as expected. If two agents are reporting to
the same host.column you won't get some intelligent computed result
(like e.g. the worst of the two or something like that), the Big Sister
server instead will just always know about the latest report that
arrived. This is especialy funny if they don't report the same color ...
since this will look to Big Sister as if the color would change every
cycle.

Since this is most probably a misconfiguration Big Sister will log
a warning like

Mar 15 23:03:50 susix bbd: test.tst is now monitored by 192.168.73.1

in such cases and if you look at the agent list in the
admin page two agents will be listed for the respective test.

In your case I assume that the uxmon on the server machine does not
report at all due to whatever reason (I'd tend to say that there must
be some configuration issue but don't want to speculate :-)) and - of
course - the remote ping test does just stop reporting as soon as the
network goes down which eventually makes the test go purple ...

Best regards,
Tom
