Didn't someone message the list today about a new plugin to handle
authentication? That would be a start. I'm still of the opinion to keep this
code outside of your apps by writing a mod_perl plugin which will do the
authentication. I'd think that you could use almost the identical code, it's
just a matter of where it will be executed (which leads to the discussion
about the pros/cons for the two methods). See the wiki[1] for more details
(and update it as you learn more).
